Well, it’s not the hat he usually wears on screen... And that, folks, is your requisite sole reference to Loki. But that is indeed Tom Hiddleston, playing country music legend Hank Williams in the first picture from biopic I Saw The Light.

Marc Abraham directing the script he wrote, which in turn adapted Colin Escott’s biography of the man who scored hits with songs such as ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart’, ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry’ and ‘Lovesick Blues’. Williams, who died in 1953, is still considered one of the most significant country music artists and rose quickly, burned brightly and died at the age of 29 from heart failure brought on by pills and alcohol.

The likes of Elizabeth Olsen, David Krumholtz, Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, Cherry Jones, Josh Pais and Wrenn Schmidt are also in the movie, which shot last year in Louisiana. Given this first image of T. Hiddy, we’d expect a trailer to arrive in the near distant future.

I Saw The Light is set to arrive in the states on November 27, but there’s no sign of a UK date yet.
