Romances where one partner is older than the other usually tend to show an older bloke going after a younger woman, with the age gap generally not treated as a big deal. Not so with Todd Louiso’s Hello I Must Be Going, which finds 35-year-old divorcee Amy (Melanie Lynskey) finding love and lust with 19-year-old Jeremy (Christopher Abbott). The trailer has arrived online (kudos to The Playlist for the spot) and can be watched below.

Lynskey’s Amy is in a crisis. She’s apparently unable to leave her parents’ house, though still likes to claim she’s merely “staying” there. Her mother Ruth (Blythe Danner) wants her to move on with her life, but probably wishes she hadn’t pushed her when Amy falls for Jeremy, the teenage son of her parents’ best friends.

While the relationship isn’t perfect – especially given the reaction of the various parents – Amy and Jeremy seem happy. But can their bliss survive the age gap?

The pic promises to take a wry, warm look at the topic. Hello I Must Be Going will be out in the US on September 7, but has no set release date for the UK just yet.
