Hot on the heels of the news that the man once known as Bennifer is finally re-teaming with his old East Coast-buddy/Oscar-winning cohort Matt Damon, to work on their first script since 1997’s Good Will Hunting, comes the first trailer for new detective thriller Gone, Baby, Gone. Set in Affleck’s native Boston and based on author Dennis Lahane’s – he of Mystic River fame – novel, the story follows the police investigation into the mysterious kidnapping of a 4-year old girl.

Most notably, the movie marks Affleck’s first foray into the world of directing, but with his brother Casey in the lead role as Private Investigator Patrick Kenzie and a top class supporting cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Michelle Monaghan and, yes, John ‘Taggart From Beverly Hills Cop I and II’ Ashton, his debut efforts behind the camera will no doubt have been bolstered and encouraged every step of the way. Curiously, Affleck’s involvement in the project is left un-highlighted in this first look, which seems particularly odd considering he also co-wrote the script with Aaron Stockhard. Still, the early evidence looks promising.
