Bleak, disturbing but never less than gripping, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is one of the movies of 2010 so far. The second part of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire, follows hot on its heels with a release later this summer*.

Thanks to Momentum Pictures, then, for this first look at the film's heroine Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace). Judging by the expression on her face in this picture, she's either been plunged back into a world of brutal violence and unrelenting pain or she's left the iron on.

Once again the traumatised wild-child finds herself in a world of venal, corrupt men. When she's suspected of the murders of sex traffickers, she again finds an unlikely ally in the form of journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist).

To keep tabs on the next instalment of the Millennium trilogy, become friends with Lisbeth and Co at the film's official Facebook page.** The Girl Who Played With Fire **is out in the UK on August 27.

Unless you live in Sweden, in which case you've probably already seen it. Lucky blighters.
