It’s fair to say that we’ve been spoiled by the cinematic gods this year. La La Land and Moonlight started 2017 with a bang, with The Disaster Artist (released after this list was compiled) and Call Me By Your Name bringing the year to a close. And we still have The Last Jedi to come! But it’s Jordan Peele’s timely, unsettling satire Get Out that takes Empire’s top spot this year.

See our Top Ten in full below (this list is based on UK release dates):

  1. Get Out
  1. Blade Runner 2049
  1. La La Land
  1. Moonlight
  1. The Death Of Stalin
  1. Dunkirk
  1. God’s Own Country
  1. Logan
  1. The Handmaiden
  1. Call Me By Your Name

Our full, Top 20 will be unveiled on Friday – or you can find it in our brand new The Last Jedi issue when it hits shelves tomorrow.
