It’s a good time to be Zach Galifianakis right now. It’s not a good time to be writing a news story about Zach Galifianakis, because typing ‘Galifianakis’ takes about an hour, and sends spell check crazy, but we digress.

The 38 year-old American comedian – who’s had a series of bit parts in the likes of Corky Romano, Bubble Boy and, most recently, Into The Wild – has finally hit the bigtime today with the news that he’s been cast in not one, but two, films.

First off, he’s been cast alongside Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz in the romantic comedy, What Happens In Vegas…

Directed by Tom Vaughan, Vegas will see Gali… Zach play Kutcher’s best friend, Dave The Bear, who is totally opposed to marriage. When Kutcher drunkenly marries Diaz’s character during a wild night, Dave The Bear flips out and hilarity ensues.

But the big role for Zach is in Jerry Bruckheimer’s family comedy, G-Force, which is about… no, really, you have to read this: a group of guinea pigs (actual guinea pigs, the furry kind) who are trained to become commandos.

Zach will play the lead scientist in charge of the project, who sends the furry fighters into their first dangerous mission. A combo of CG and live-action, G-Force will be directed by Hoyt Yeatman, and eagerly anticipated by Empire, for it’s an idea so delightfully bonkers that we wish we’d thought of it first. Still, we'll always have IRA Zombies...
