Some images from the new remake of ‘80s cult dancing favourite Footloose shuffled down the line last month, but now comes not only the first poster for the movie, but a trailer to boot, which you can watch below.

brightcove.createExperiences();Footloose follows the basic structure of the 1984 original, albeit transplanted to the South instead of the Midwest American setting. Kenny Wormald is Ren McCormack, who arrives to stay with family in the small town of Bomont. But he soon runs afoul of the local reverend (Dennis Quaid) who, along with the town government, has pushed through measures to ban public dancing in the aftermath of a tragic accident that killed a carload of high school students.

Still, Ren decides to challenge the ruling and finds solid support from Ariel Moore (Julianne Hough), who just so happens to be the reverend’s rebellious, dance-crazy daughter. Along with new friends such as Willard Hewitt (Miles Teller), Ren sets out to change some minds...

The trailer’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect – lots of dancing, a basic primer on the story and Wormald and Hough giving it their best smouldering looks. Oh, and Wormald trying to look rebellious while driving a beaten-up yellow VW Beatle. As you do. Talking of the car, it’s the star of the poster below.

With Hustle & Flow’s Craig Brewer behind the camera, Footloose will line dance into cinemas on October 14.
