Fresh from getting all serious and awardsy with Wild, Reese Witherspoon is back doing comedy, showing off her range and poking fun at herself all at once in this first trailer for crime caper Hot Pursuit. Click below for a closer look.
Hot Pursuit sees Witherspoon playing an uptight cop who’d rather chew her own badge than break from the regulations. At least, until she finds herself escorting gangster moll Sofia Vergara in a high-speed chase across the bluegrassier parts of Texas. They’re the chasees – Thelma And Louise/Midnight Run-style – while chasing them is an array of drug henchmen and gunmen.
We’re guessing on this evidence, and from the film’s original title, 'Don’t Mess With Texas', that they get a lot more than they bargained for from the strangely formidable duo. Hot Pursuit is directed by The Proposal’s Anne Fletcher who’ll be hoping to tap some of that film’s box-office mojo with an odd-couple caper that has shades of another recent double-act hit, The Heat.
