Nearly a year ago, we learned that US TV was giving Patrick Stewart a platform on which to be funny again, via the Seth MacFarlane-produced cable sitcom Blunt Talk. The first full teaser for the show has arrived.

The series, which comes from MacFarlane and Bored To Death creator Jonathan Ames, has shot two seasons of ten episodes each for its initial order. Stewart, who is also on board as a producer, is Walter Blunt, a Piers Morgan-alike British blowhard who scores a job on an American cable news network. Intent on delivering his wisdom and guidance on how our colonial cousins should think and live, he’s endlessly besieged by network executives, his dysfunctional staff and various other characters. His one supporter is the alcoholic manservant he had shipped over from the UK.

From the looks of this, it’s Stewart giving free reign to his comic side, working alongside the likes of Jacki Weaver, Adrian Scarborough, Dolly Wells and Timm Sharp. Blunt Talk will start airing on US channel Starz this summer, with no word on a UK airdate just yet. But someone will pick it up, surely? The Power Of Sir Patrick Compels You!
