Rumours have been circulating that Jessica Simpson is on board for a remake of the '80s girl power, shoulder pad bonanza that was Working Girl. Y'all got it wrong, Simpson tells Empire.

"I don’t know where that came from," she laughs. "It's a movie called Blonde Ambition co-starring Luke Wilson. It’s definitely the theme of Working Girl - this small town girl moving to New York City and rising up into this great career as a business woman pretty much. But it's definitely not a remake".

OK, it sounds a lot like Working Girl. But Simpson says this is far more of a knockabout comedy than the Melanie Griffith starrer, which had one foot in drama, and will will be the singer/fashion mogul/reality TV star/actress's biggest test so far, following smaller roles in Dukes of Hazzard and the upcoming Employee Of The Month.

"This will be my first leading role and I think I’m ready for it," she continues. "The other two movies that I’ve done, I feel like I’ve got a load of press out of ‘em, but I’ve really only had about 12 lines. I’ve never had the leading role and with this one it’s really going to be nice to just dive in and kinda wrap my arms around it...It's definitely comedy! There’s a lot of physical comedy; I’ll be falling into pot holes on bicycles and goofy stuff."
