Downloads Are Go

Good news for the growing numbers of people preferring to watch films at home: from April, you’ll be able to download films, including the latest releases, and keep them permanently. From April 10, Universal will be the first big studio to offer instantly downloadable films in conjunction with Lovefilm and the AOL.co.uk website. For £19.99 you’ll get a DVD and two digital copies, one for a home computer, and one for a portable. There's bad news for Apple users though; these films will not be burnable and will only work on PCs and Windows technology. Universal chairman Eddie Cunningham said: "The statistics said people were three times as likely to pick up on this service if the physical copy was included as part of the bundle, and that astonished us." The first films to become available will be King Kong and Pride and Prejudice.
