Christopher Nolan can forget about David Bowie choosing his appearance as Nikola Tesla in The Prestige as his favourite acting job ever. And don’t even mention The Man Who Fell To Earth.

No, Ziggy Stardust has been raving about his latest piece of acting glory – voicing a character in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. And just why is the man who sold the world lending his tonsil talents to the adventures of the sea-dwelling loon? No points for guessing a child is involved. In this case, his 6-year-old daughter, Alexandria, who’s a huge SquarePants fan.

Bowie blogged about the job on his website, sounding like the proverbial kid in the equally proverbial candy store. “Yesterday I got to be a character on... Tan-tara... SpongeBob SquarePants. Or at least watch...”

Thanks Dave. He’s also turning up (vocally, anyway) in Luc Besson’s Arthur And The Invisibles. Meanwhile, we’ll continue to anticipate his Prestige work, which arrives on 10 November.
