With a cadre of the show’s stars and producers presenting a packed panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con, the Walking Dead team showed off a new teaser trailer for the fifth season. Featuring plenty of what you might expect from the show – zombies and all – the new tease is below. Be warned of spoilers if you’re not up to date through the end of Season Four...

Season five kicks off with Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Darryl (Norman Reedus0 and the rest trapped in Terminus, which has been revealed not to be the sanctuary they'd hoped for. Which should surprise absolutely no-one.

But after so many setbacks and losses, Rick and the rest are finally ready to stop taking all the slings and arrows and start firing a few back. There’s also the recently introduced idea that there might actually be a cure out there, so part of the season’s plot will be attempting to reach Washington and see what can be done.

At the show’s press conference this morning, the producers Scott Gimple, Gale Anne Hurd and Robert Kirkman promised plenty of shocks, surprises and – thanks to Greg Nicotero’s team – some of the most inventive zombies yet. The show will be back in October and after this tease, some of you may find the waiting even tougher.
