City Of Ember Trailer Online

It appears that somebody has finally seen fit to turn on the lights over on the official City Of Ember website and with it the brand-new trailer (thanks to Empire Online forum poster Boredbluekoala for the heads up).

The wonderfully grimy looking new fantasy movie is all about the titular metropolis, a place which once flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights but now finds that its formerly powerful generator is starting to fail. Faced with living the rest of their lives in the dark, two children are charged with the task of putting another 50p in the meter (or perhaps something a little more grand) and saving their subterranean home.

Shaping up to be an exciting treasure hunt tale, Gil “Monster House” Kenan’s adaptation of Jeanne Duprau’s kid-lit favourite has the aesthetics of a Terry Gilliam movie mixed with a bit of steampunk and bolstered with the star (ahem!) wattage of a proper blockbuster cast - Bill Murray, Tim Robbins, Mackenzie Crook and Martin Landau join Atonement’s Saoirse Ronan in the impressive line-up.
