A few weeks ago, word broke that director Doug Liman had Anne Hathaway signed up and ready to shoot a pandemic-set blend of rom-com and heist movie called Lockdown. The film has moved on apace, with production already underway and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ben Stiller, Lily James, Stephen Merchant, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon and Mark Gatiss all joining the cast.
Steven Knight's script tells the story of how sparring couple Linda (Hathaway) and Paxton (Ejiofor) call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewelry heist at one of the world’s most exclusive department stores: Harrods. The iconic store is letting the production film within its halls, which leads us to wonder whether Hathaway actually planned the whole thing as a guise for her to run an Ocean's Eight-style job.
No release date has been set yet, but given that work is already proceeding, expect it to arrive later next year.
