Charlie Countryman Trailer Lands

It feels like the latest Shia LaBeouf drama – formerly titled The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman – has been lingering in release limbo for a while. It still doesn’t have a solid UK release date yet, but the newly name-shorn Charlie Countryman does have a trailer, online via Yahoo.

When his late mother appears in a vision and tells him to go to Bucharest, Charlie (LaBeouf) immediately boards a plane across the Atlantic. But when he meets a fellow passenger, Charlie finds himself with another promise to fulfil. He does so – and falls head over heels in love with Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood), a beautiful musician.

But there’s a dangerous wrinkle to this seemingly blissful union: a vicious gangster (Mads Mikkelsen) has already laid claim to Gabi, and has no intention of letting her go. Determined to protect her, Charlie enters into the hallucinatory, Romanian underworld filled with violence and, strangely enough, love.

With the appearance of James “Jay” Buckley (and a drugged up Rupert Grint), the trailer makes this look like a weird combo of The Inbetweeners and a crime thriller. There’s no official confirmation UK release yet, but US audiences will see it on November 15 on VOD and in cinemas.
