Gurinder Chadha is hooking up with the original team behind Bend It Like Beckham, for martial comedy It's A Wonderful Afterlife. Indeed some of the original Beckham cast, including Shaheen Khan, Ash Varrez and Adlyn Ross are also back in the squad.

Following an Indian mother whose obsession with marriage ends up in frighteningly funny territory, It's A Wonderful Afterlife stars queen of the Indian New Wave Shabana Azmi, Happy-Go-Lucky Sally Hawkins, and hero Sendhil 'Mohinder' Ramamurthy, as well as grand-dame Zoë Wanamaker, and side-parting-ed RockNRolla Jimi Mistry.

Telly masters Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars at No. 42), Mark Addy (Red Riding), and Ray Panthaki (Eastenders) complete the line-up.

Written by Chada and husband Paul Mayeda Berges - it is heralded as a cross between My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shaun Of The Dead, which makes for a very intereresting mix. It's A Wonderful Afterlife is filming now in London and is set for an early 2010 release.
