Cannes Line-Up 2010 Announced

Giant names in world cinema will be in attendance at this year's Cannes Film Festival, after the line-up was announced today. The already announced Robin Hood from Ridley Scott will be joined by films from Kitano, Kiarostami, Iñárritu, Leigh, Godard, Nakata and many more.

While the appointment of Tim Burton as Jury president might have indicated a populist move for the Festival, the line-up of directors is defiantly light on big American names, most of which are left outside the Competition section; Doug Liman's probably the biggest American name in the selection. But there are giants of world cinema in there, with Takeshi Kitano's Outrage, Abbas Kiarostami's Copie Conforme, Jean-Luc Godard's Film Socialisme and Alejandro González Iñárritu's Biutiful.

Out of competition, Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, Oliver Stone's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Stephen Frears' Tamara Drewe will also be playing.

The full list is below. The Festival runs from May 12 to 23. For more thoughts on the line-up, check out our Cannes guru Damon Wise's reactions just over here.
