Brad Pitt Plays Dirty Tricks

Director Ryan Murphy, whose Running With Scissors will be in cinemas this January, has been grabbing up extra cast members for his next movie, Dirty Tricks.

Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone and Jim Broadbent have just been added to the film, which sees Meryl Streep playing Martha Mitchell, the wife of Richard Nixon’s Chief of Staff John Mitchell. Martha blew the whistle on Mitchell and his staff’s rotten tactics against opponents and ended up harming the presidency (you know, before the whole Watergate thing ended it for good).

Annette Bening is Helen Thomas, the White House correspondent who received her leaks, while Gwyneth Paltrow’s on board as Maureen Dean, who stood behind her husband John, another member of the Nixon team, as the administration slowly sank into scandal.

"It's about the women in Watergate, it's very different than Ron Howard's upcoming Frost/Nixon, Murphy told /Film. I love Ron Howard's movie. That was about what a nightmare Nixon was to get the rights for the Frost interview, and the negotiations back and fourth for that. Mine is really much more about one of the first Cassandra's of our century."
