It's been 18 months since The Bernie Mac Show was snatched from our screens and from our hearts. (Well, maybe just our screens - it was good, but not that good). Now, the stand-up comic is reuniting with Fox and has signed up to star in a new comedy from Drew Carey Show director Bruce Helford.

The half-hour sitcom, titled Starting Under, will star Mac as a loud, opinionated guy who ends up living with his introverted twenty-something son after getting divorced. Seriously down on his luck, he also winds up working for the aforementioned offspring.

So, it would appear that Mac is turning his attention back to television, at least for the time being, after recently appearing on the bigger (and better) screen in Transformers and Ocean's Thirteen. After five popular seasons of Bernie Mac, our eyes and ears will be primed to gauge whether he can pull off the same kind of success with this new show.
