Because Joss Whedon is very, very lazy, poor old Marvel didn’t have any proper Avengers footage to show at Comic-Con this year (just kidding Joss – please don’t have Agent Coulson nick all our computers!), so the company had to make do with a big standing set in the middle of the convention floor and lots of other little releases to keep us teased about the movie. Probably the best of the bunch was this set of arty posters showing the heroes, which fit together into an action-packed tableaux.
Released a couple a day across the weekend, the new images feature exactly who you might expect to see – Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang of Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).
We also get decent looks at some nifty S.H.I.E.L.D. gear, all crafted by Co-Visual Development Supervisors (is that a posh name for concept artists? Ryan Meinerding and Charlie Wen, with Andy Park handling the S.H.I.E.L.D. image.
