Arrested Development Movie Still On!

Headlines like ‘Arrested Development movie not happening / Arrested Development movie back on’ seem to come around with alarming regularity, but we’ve got video interviews with George Michael and George Bluth Sr. themselves with more details on the project, which seem (happily) in the latter category. It's (currently) official! The Arrested Development movie is a Go project.

Speaking from Comic-Con, it seems that it’s simply a case of when, not if, for the film, with the schedule now depending on the time available to the chief writer, Mitchell Hurwitz.

Hurwitz is currently working on a new TV project, Running Wilde, which will also feature the talents of David Cross and Will Arnett.

Speaking to the Television Critics Association yesterday, Hurwitz himself added that he’s “halfway” through writing the finished script. "We're writing it; we're halfway through. The reason I've been so cagey is fans have been so (eager about it). I really want to do it. It's not going to be a big money maker. It's going to be fun, like a family reunion. The only stumbling block could be scheduling. Everybody wants to play together."

This scheduling thing is going to be the biggest potential problem, it seems. It’s not like anyone actively doesn’t want to do it, but with such a large and successful cast, it’s a matter of getting all their proverbial ducks in a proverbial row. For our sake, and the sake of the banana stand, here’s hoping it works out. In the meantime, check out the video above for your AD fix, including some fantastic quizzical glances from Jeffrey Tambor. Seriously, it’s magnificent.

Arrested Development is out… 2012? 2013? Only time will tell.
