Another Transformers 3 Trailer Arrives

The footage of Transformers: Dark of the Moon showed off by Michael Bay (and, by extension, James Cameron) at the recent 3D promo event/bickering session included the new trailer, which Bay promised would be in cinemas this weekend attached to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It’s been mastered in 3D, so you can get the full experience… provided you’re watching it on a 3D equipped theatre screen. For now, however, enjoy the promo in 2D below.

There’s not an awful lot that’s new in the trailer: it culls a lot from the previous promo, especially moments between Optimus Prime and Frances McDormand’s Charlotte Mearing. But there’s still space for some new shots of robo-action, and of course the much-touted wing-suits make another appearance.

In case you’d forgotten, Dark of the Moon concerns the Autobots learning of a crashed Cybertronian spacecraft lying on the Moon, a fact that the US government had kept hidden from them for years (might have been a good thing to mention, no?) Naturally, a race begins between Optimus’ crew and the Decepticons to secure the ship, which holds a powerful advantage for whichever side controls it. But when the Decepticons seemingly claim it, the impact is felt most keenly in Chicago, where the metal militia starts laying waste to the city…

Take a look at the trailer and let us know your thoughts.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon also features Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, John Turturro and the gravelly voice of Leonard Nimoy. It’s out on June 29.
