Like Jason Bourne's battered Mini on a Parisian périphérique, things are suddenly lurching forward on Paul Greengrass's re-Bourne franchise. Hot on the heels of the confirmed Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander is a newly announced to an increasingly exciting Bourne 5. She's been in talks since May.

Deadline’s scoop has the fast-rising Swedish actress joining up in an undisclosed role. According to trade, the seriously in-demand actress has had to make some tough choices to fit Bourne into her schedule. She’s dropped out of Justin Kurzel’s Assassin's Creed adaptation, in which she was due to star alongside Michael Fassbender.

That does, in all likelihood, free her up for James Ponsoldt’s The Circle, an adaptation of a Dave Eggers novel that current boasts one Tom Hanks, esq. Her role in that, as a young tech exec at a massive Google-like corp, was in question.

All are nice problems to have for an actress you’ll be seeing a lot more of in coming months/years. She’s next up in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., followed by twin period pieces Tulip Fever and The Danish Girl. Also on the agenda are chef drama Adam Jones and The Light Between Oceans alongside Fassbender.

Bourne 5, of course, reunites Greengrass, Matt Damon and Stiles in a new espionage actioner that the director is co-penning with Christopher Rouse.
