Yeah, we’re thinking he’s back. Five years since John Wick arrived and kicked Keanu Reeves’ career back into maximum overdrive, Baba Yaga is booting his way back to the big screen in a threequel set to deepen the series’ shadowy, mythology-tinged criminal underworld, and offer another welcome excuse for Reeves to beat the ever-living snot out of hordes of unlucky goons. Here’s everything we know so far about John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

What’s The Plot of John Wick 3?

John Wick 3: Parabellum

How’s this for an elevator pitch: it’s John Wick vs. every assassin in the world. The closing minutes of John Wick: Chapter Two saw the hitman excommunicated from the criminal underworld and its Continental Hotel network, and facing a $14 million bounty on his head. Ian McShane’s Winston, the owner of the Continental’s New York branch, had generously offered him a one-hour head-start. This is where Chapter 3 will pick up, following Wick as he tries to make his way out of the city with enemies at every turn.

What Does ‘Parabellum’ Mean?

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

You probably didn’t come to John Wick looking for wordplay, but you’re getting it anyway. There’s a double meaning to this subtitle – not only is Parabellum a type of gun, but it’s also a Latin phrase meaning ‘prepare for war’. Which is all rather apt, considering the predicament Wick finds himself in this time.

Does John Wick 3 Have A Trailer?

It does, and it looks very, very good indeed. Watch it here.

And while you’re here, check out these very excellent posters – the first finding Wick out in the cold, shut out from the Continental.

Which Characters Are Returning In John Wick 3?

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Aside from Wick himself? You’ve got the aforementioned Continental Hotel owner Winston, played by Ian McShane, Lance Reddick as the Concierge Charon, and Laurence Fishburne is returning as The Bowery King – the pigeon-obsessed crime lord introduced in Chapter Two.

What About The Dog?

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

Yes the dog is back too – the pitbull that Wick rescued at the end of the first film was still by his side at the end of Chapter Two as the assassin started to make his escape, and he’s briefly glimpsed in the trailer for Parabellum. Considering the Continental doubled as Wick’s doggy day care last time around, we hope he finds somewhere safe for his four-legged friend to stay this time while he’s on the run. Our wish list? One, the dog survives the film unscathed. Two, he gets a name.
