Horror villains don’t get much more iconic than Pennywise. The dancing clown – or, the shape-shifting embodiment of pure evil – has haunted not just multiple generations of kids in the town of Derry, Maine, but also multiple generations of horror fans on the page, in the small-screen ‘90s miniseries, and most recently in Andy Muschietti’s none-more-cinematic two-part movie adaptation. The concluding IT Chapter Two was one of 2019’s biggest movie events – and now you can be reunited with the Losers’ Club in your living room.

IT Chapter Two

If you’re yet to see Chapter Two, you’ve quite literally only got half the story – the second instalment being the deeper, darker, more mythical and mature present-day thread which finds the Losers’ Club all grown up and having to re-face their childhood trauma 27 years after they first defeated Pennywise. With an incoming adult cast including the likes of James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader, a plot that takes in the more expansive, cosmic end of Stephen King’s vast universe, and more from the young cast you know and love, IT Chapter Two is that rare thing – an all-out horror blockbuster that plays it big in a way that few other frightfests get to.

If the scope is massive, so are the emotions – the greatest strength of King’s story, brought to life on the screen across both generations of the cast, is the Losers’ Club themselves. They’re a group you can’t help but fall in love with, friendships forged in complex adolescent emotions, each member facing their own demons (as well as the literal demon making their life a misery). As for the horror buffs out there, Chapter Two has all kinds of genre nods and homages to look out for – from references to The Thing, The Shining, and Christine, to an appearance from Stephen King himself.
