Third Rock From The Sun: Season 1 Review

Originally brought to US airwaves as a mid-season replacement, Third Rock became a surprise hit, running for six seasons and winning multiple awards. It bears out its tried-and-tested set-up of aliens coming to Earth and being stunned by the illogical nature of human behaviour thanks to witty writing that goes beyond the obvious touchstones and, above all, the unabashed enthusiasm of its cast.

John Lithgow is a hammy joy as the head of the alien collective, while Kristen Johnston as a male alien in a woman’s body contradicts her glamazonian form, stomping about like a transvestite trucker to hilarious effect.
