Monty Python’s Personal Best Review

It’s testament to the quality of the Pythons’ material that we keep buying it. Here we’re given most of their Flying Circus again, albeit in a different order: each surviving Python selects and presents 60 minutes of their favourite bits, while Graham Chapman’s segment is threaded with the team’s memories of him. The real curio, though, is the previously unseen material; after years of watching sketch shows ‘not measuring up to the Pythons’, it’s fascinating to watch the odd ‘new’ sketch falter. This takes nothing away from the classics, though. Still great fun.
