Granted, the brush-strokes for this comedy are broad, but its still irresistible. Born of a two-minute sketch, the set-up is simple: bitchy, separated daughter moves back in with her chirpy single mum, and this first series chronicles the girls journeys (despite themselves) towards spousal bliss. Series 2 incorporates more characters and cameos, but doesnt let the gag-rate slide. If it sounds like American canned laughter territory, dont worry its Australian cultural cringe writ large; surreal, soapy, yet never sentimental and often painfully funny. Theres nothing quite like it.
