The pedigree of virtually all involved (Father Ted’s Graham Linehan, The Office’s producer Ash Atalla, Chris Morris and Garth Marenghi’s Richard Ayoade) only masks why this limp comedy misses the mark: laziness. Settling for first-base gags (women interested only in shoes, an embarrassing episode involving visiting Japanese businessmen) and characters who don’t feel anything like as real as Matthew Holness’ snippy nerd from The Office,

proper laughs are few and far between.
