The cameras are now cranking on the live-action prequel to Netflix's big fantasy hit The Witcher. But the team behind the show are not done announcing castmembers, so we now know that Lenny Henry, Dylan Moran, Mirren Mack and Nathaniel Curtis are all part of The Witcher: Blood Origin.
Set in an elven world roughly 1200 years before the time of Geralt (Henry Cavill) and co., Blood Origin charts the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘Conjunction of the Spheres’, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
Henry is playing Balor, with Mack as Merwyn, Curtis as Brían and Moran as the intriguingly named Uthrok One-Nut. And they're just a sampling of the new additions, with Jacob Collins Levy as Eredin, Lizzie Annis playing Zacaré, Huw Novelli in the role of Callan "Brother Death", Francesca Mills as Meldof, Amy Murray taking on Fenrik and Zach Wyatt playing Syndril. They join the previously announced Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown and Michelle Yeoh.
With Declan de Barra as overall showrunner and Witcher boss Lauren Schmidt Hissrich executive producing, the six-part prequel series has Sarah O'Gorman and Vicky Jewson as its directors. There's no word on when Blood Origin might hit Netflix's servers, but the main show returns on 17 December.
