Still reeling from the recent news that The Batman Part II has gone back an entire year in the Warner Bros schedule? Then worry not – you’ve got more goodness from Matt Reeves’ take on the world of the Caped Crusader arriving much sooner than that. Following the memorable introduction of Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot – aka The Penguin – in The Batman, the Gotham gangster is getting his own spin-off series set after the events of the film, getting into the nitty gritty of the criminal underworld. And now there’s a fresh teaser for the show, with Oswald waxing lyrical about getting respect, and flashes of violent activity. Take a look here:

There’s not a huge amount of plot here, but it’s great to see Farrell back in a role that he clearly relishes – he willingly chewed the scenery in The Batman, and this show offers a real opportunity for him to go even further with Cobblepot. And we know that the series will see him attempt to consolidate power in Gotham after the death of Carmine Falcone – leaving a vacuum waiting to be filled by someone else in the vast underbelly of the city. Matt Reeves is on board as producer, with Lauren LeFranc as showrunner and Craig Zobel as lead director.

There’s no official release date for The Penguin yet, but it’s due to arrive later in 2024 – after which point the long wait for The Batman Part II in 2026 truly begins. Bring on the bird, the bat, and everything else besides.
