Thanks to co-creator Dave Filoni, the Star Wars series set in the Mandalorian time period have always had deep connections to the animated canon via characters and, increasingly casting. That continues with Ahsoka, which is adding Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and David Tennant as the voice of Jedi tutor droid Professor Huyang.

Mikkelsen, of course, is fully crossing over from Star Wars Rebels, where he voiced Thrawn. The Imperial threat will be the main antagonist of Ahsoka, in which Rosario Dawson's Jedi warrior is looking to convince anyone who will listen that he's still a major threat. As announced at Star Wars Celebration, Mikkelsen will have the character's trademark blue skin and red eyes.

We also learned a little more about Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno's characters: Stevenson is Baylin Skoll, a former Jedi who survived Order 66 and is now a Sith master to Ivanna Sakhno’s Shin Hati, both of whom work under Thrawn.

Diana Lee Inosanto, meanwhile, reprises the role of Morgan Elsbeth, another servant of Thrawn’s who appeared in season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Celebration was also where Filoni revealed that Tennant would return to voice the droid character he first played in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. A Mark IV architect droid professor based aboard the Jedi vessel Crucible, he helped the likes of Yoda and Mace Windu construct their lightsabers back when they were younglings.

They join the likes of Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (as Rebels' Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla respectively) and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka will be on Disney+ in August.
