BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage has been earning acclaim for his female-led I Am... anthology series, in which a set of talented actors have brought raw, powerful and emotional stories to life on Channel 4. For the latest series, he has Kate Winslet starring in I Am Ruth.
While the episodes of the show normally run to around 46 minutes (an hour with ads), Ruth will be feature-length and sees Winslet star alongside her daughter, Mia Threapleton.
Previous instalments have seen the likes of Vicky McClure, Gemma Chan, Letitia Wright and Lesley Manville working with Savage on the semi-improvised one-off dramas.
"It is a complete honour for me to be working and collaborating with Kate Winslet on this first film of the new series of I Am... for Channel 4," says Savage. "Kate is such a legend, such an incredible and sublime acting talent, and I can’t wait to start shooting this unique and important story that we have created together."
"I have always admired Dominic’s work and, in particular, his commitment to telling real stories," says Winslet. "British television is at an all time high, and I feel excited and honoured to be part of this community, especially right now."
The cameras will roll at the end of the month, and while the third series will still comprise three episodes, no details have been released about the other two entries.
