Jude Law has made a solid stab at TV with his starring role in The Young Pope (and its new sequel series The New Pope) and he's looking to keep that streak going, entering talks to take the lead in a miniseries called The Auteur from freshly minted Oscar winner Taika Waititi.

Details are a little scarce at this point as the show is in development at US cable network Showtime, but the story would apparently see Law as an eccentric auteur working in Hollywood, a satirical take on the world of movies and TV. Waititi is writing the show with Peter Warren, and he's likely to direct several episodes.

When it will actually shoot is anyone's guess for now, as Law has big screen duties calling with the third Fantastic Beasts film, and Waititi is fiendishly busy, between putting Next Goal Wins through post-production and preparing/shooting Thor: Love And Thunder later this year.
