While we're excited to see the return of Sarah Lancashire to our screens this year as dogged police sergeant Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley's long-awaited third series. But as fans of Lancashire know, she's a chameleon who can turn her hand to any role. For a new HBO comedy drama, she's playing cooking legend Julia Child. Find the first trailer below...

Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, The French Chef, which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.

“One of the advantages of looking like me is that you learn from an early age not to take no for an answer,” says Child in the show, and she's certainly got a lot to push back against.

David Hyde Pierce co-stars as her husband Paul, while the cast also includes Bebe Neuwirth, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz and Fiona Glascott.

The show launches in the US via HBO Max on 31 March with three initial episodes followed by a weekly schedule. No word yet on when or where it might arrive in the UK, but Sky seems like the best possibility.
