Thus far in its development, the fate of the Galaxy Quest TV series has been less "never give up, never surrender!" and more "eh… Give up. Surrender". A version long in the works at Paramount TV and Amazon never left space dock, but now Paramount is trying again, setting a new version up at Paramount+.

According to Variety, there are no creatives attached yet – Mark Johnson, who was an executive producer on the 1999 movie, which starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell and Daryl Mitchell as a ragtag group of actors from a star Trek-alike canceled TV show who are recruited by aliens who think they're real heroes to fight a dangerous threat.

While things seemed to be moving along with writer Robert Gordon (who was one of the scribes on the movie), problems began over casting the original stars, and that was compounded by the tragic death of Rickman in January 2016. Comedian, actor, writer and podcaster Paul Scheer took over scripting duties, but it remained stalled.

If it does make it to screens, by Grabthar's Hammer, we will cover it!
