And in the new, full trailer, Elle Fanning's Catherine is under the impression she can rule Russia without bloodshed. Hhhmmm....
Yes, following her coup, Catherine – who is now adding "the great" to her name – is trying to maintain control of the country all while others scheme against her. Not least Nicholas Hoult, bringing all the nutty energy to his role as Peter, Catherine's husband, and the former emperor.
New this time around is Gillian Anderson as Catherine's mother, looking to prove once again that if you want to make a good show even better, just add Gillian Anderson.
The Great will return to Hulu in the US on 19 November and 5 December via Starzplay in the UK.
