Looking to remind us all that, despite a break away from the screen (and impending changes behind the scenes), Doctor Who and Jodie Whittaker's 13th incarnation are indeed headed back to screens soon, the Beeb has been running little teaser interruptions in programming. Now we have a proper look at what Whittaker and incumbent show boss Chris Chibnall have planned for the new series.

Running to a swift six episodes, the next series will see Whittaker's Doctor facing up against a new enemy, one that is in league with a wealth of established baddies – we don't know yet what the new threat will exactly be, but the clues are out there.

With Mandip Gill back as Yaz, John Bishop is joining the TARDIS team as Dan Lewis, while Game Of Thrones' Jacob Anderson is a space pilot named Vinder. The show will return on Sunday 31 October – and it sounds like the new baddies will be just right for Halloween. And, of course, the other big Who news is that Russell T. Davies is returning after this latest series and three specials next year.
