Dear White People, the series spun off from Justin Simien's eponymous 2014 movie has been spitting fire and spilling tea on racial issues for the last few years across three seasons. The fourth – Volume 4, to give it its proper title – lands on Netflix next month and from the looks of this first brief teaser, which does double duty as a date announcement, it'll be a musical affair.
While we don't learn anything about the plot for this final run of episodes, Netflix has at least released a synopsis: "Set against the backdrop of senior year at Winchester as well as a not-so-distant, post-pandemic future, Dear White People Vol. 4 finds our characters looking back at the most formative (and theatrical) year of their lives. Both an Afro-futuristic and ’90s-inspired musical event. Sometimes the only way to move forward is to throw it back."
The cast includes Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson and the show will be back on 22 September for its final bow.
