Since leading a galactic revolution in the Star Wars sequels, Daisy Ridley hasn’t graced our screens too often, only appearing in live-action opposite Tom Holland in the high-concept Chaos Walking, and popping up in Judd Apatow’s parodic comedy The Bubble. Her indie drama Sometimes I Think About Dying is on the way, after showing at Sundance last month – but Ridley has found her next leading role after that, and it’s her first on the small screen.

As reported by Deadline, she’s set to develop The Better Liar, a psychological thriller series based on the novel by Tanen Jones. Ridley is starring and executive producing, with True Blood’s Raelle Tucker also on board. The story follows a woman who gets caught up in layers of deception after her sister’s death when she hires a lookalike in order to try and claim their shared inheritance.

The series is being brought to life at Amazon Studios, and comes after several novel adaptations at the streamer recently – including this week’s Daisy Jones And The Six, and global thriller The Power, due out at the end of March.
