Great Scott! Christopher Lloyd is back, folks. Fresh off the back of winning turns as Bob Odenkirk’s badass dad in last year’s unexpected action smash Nobody and Tye Sheridan’s glute-tootin’ gramps in George Clooney’s The Tender Bar, Lloyd is dusting off the spurs on his sci-fi boots to head out to that galaxy far, far away for the first time.

Yes, having immortalised the role of Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown in Back To The Future and memorably appeared in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock as Commander Kruge, The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Friday that Lloyd is set to guest star in the upcoming third season of Disney+’s  The Mandalorian.

While it’s been over a year since The Mandalorian’s second season reached its explosive, surprisingly emotional finale, it’s only been a couple of months since we last caught up with ‘World’s Best Babysitter’ Din Djarin and his little green pal Grogu. The last time we saw them was in The Book of Boba Fett (A.K.A The Mandalorian Season 2.5), with Grogu deciding to ditch CG Luke Skywalker’s Jedi training for a heartwarming reunion with our man Mando. In season three, the pair will be headed for the ruins of Mandalore, where Din will be hoping to prove himself worthy of rejoining the Mandalorian clan.

We don’t know yet what part Lloyd will play in all this – maybe Doc’s overloaded the DeLorean on plutonium and found himself stranded on Mandalore? Whether he’s Gungan, Grand Admiral, or a table cleaner at a cantina somewhere in the Outer Rim, the screen icon’s presence will be greatly appreciated.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently shooting out in Southern California, with no release date confirmed as of yet. In the meantime though, there’s only two months to go until our next jump to lightspeed for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which drops on Disney+ on May 25th. Hello there!
