And Just Like That

The first season of HBO’s Sex And The City reboot And Just Like That – which reunited stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis – may have gotten a mixed reception from fans and critics alike, but having immediately become HBO Max’s most successful streaming release to date, it was hard not to expect a second season to swiftly follow. And just like that (sorry), we now know for sure that we’ll be getting more Carrie Bradshaw and co. before long.

In a statement released by HBO yesterday, and as reported in Deadline, showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed the news, saying: “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”

Parker, Nixon, and Davis will all be returning for more shenanigans in the Big Apple as they navigate men, the menopause, grief and mid-life growing pains. Last season’s newcomers Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Karen Pittman are set to return also, though OG Sex And The City alum Kim Cattrall is still notable in her absence – last series she only appeared via text messages, which wasn’t quite the reunion fans had been hoping for.

When we left the ladies at the end of Season 1, Miranda was on a plane headed for Los Angeles with partner Che (Ramírez), Carrie was moving on from losing Mr Big as she shared a kiss with boss Franklyn (Ívan Hernandez) in her work elevator, and Charlotte was getting to grips with being a mother to a non-binary child.

It remains to be seen whether there’s any more familiar faces (or new ones) lined up for And Just Like That Season 2, but of two things we can almost be certain – more sex and indeed more city are on their way.
