Hustle Season 1 Review

Smug and over-directed con man drama from the makers of Spooks which follows much the same stylistic template, but with a much ‘lighter’ approach — meaning endless slow-motion and an annoying light-jazz soundtrack. It’s not a total loss — Adrian Lester, as the super-smooth leader of a team of London hustlers, is always good value and some of the cons are fun even if we’ve seen it all a million times before. But this tries far too hard to achieve something which should be effortless — a sense of cool — and thereby falls flat on its well-crafted face.
