There is clearly a space for high concept family comedies featuring talking animals and some humans looking like they'd rather be anywhere else doing anything else. The latest example of this less-than-glorious genre for anyone older than eight is Show Dogs, which has its first trailer online.

Will Arnett is the human in this case, playing a detective named Frank who teams up with a canine cop called Max (voiced by Ludacris) to track down animal smugglers who are using a glitzy dog show as cover to move a stolen baby panda.

Max and his team have to infiltrate the show and bust the bad guys, so you can pretty much figure out where it goes from there. Despite a voice cast that also includes Stanley Tucci and Alan Cumming, Show Dogs – directed by Raja Gosnell, who has form with the likes of Beverly Hills Chihuahua and The Smurfs. It'll be out in the summer.
