The Olympus Has Fallen franchise, which has so far drawn London into its action-obsessed tentacles, is targeting the skies for the third instalment. And as the cameras start to roll, Tim Blake Nelson has joined the cast of Angel Has Fallen.
Gerard Butler is naturally back as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who this time is with Morgan Freeman's President Trumball (sorry Aaron Eckhart fans, looks like Benjamin Asher is sitting this one out) on the presidential plane when it is attacked. Banning is framed for the attempted assassination of his boss, and must elude both his own agency and the FBI as he searches for the real threat.
Nelson joins a cast that also includes Jada Pinkett Smith, Piper Perabo and Holt McCallany in the film, which should be out next year. Before that, the actor will be seen in indie pic Monster, which had its debut at this year's Sundance fest, and The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, reuniting with Joel and Ethan Coen for a Netflix-backed musical Western miniseries.
