With one of his most famous tomes headed to small screens via co-writer Neil Gaiman (that would be classic apocalyptic comedy Good Omens), the work of the late Terry Pratchett is very much on our minds. So it's heartening to learn that someone is looking to make a new TV series based on the Discworld books.

It's early days for the show, which is being produced by BBC Studios (the independent production arm of the corporation, which means it'll be offered up to various outlets), and Rhianna Pratchett's Narrativia, the company set up by Pratchett and now run by his daughter alongside his former business manager.

Details are scarce at this point, but Deadline reports that Strike Back and The Musketeers' Simon Allen is writing the show, which is currently known as The Watch. Which makes us think it'll follow the misadventures of Sam Vimes and the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.

Pratchett's work has previously been brought to screens by Sky, with adaptations of books such as The Colour Of Magic and Hogfather. We'll keep our fingers and toes crossed this one turns out well.
