The Jessica Chastain-starring (and produced) action movie Eve has had a difficult time getting to the shooting stage. With original writer/director Matthew Newton stepping down over concerns about his abusive past, it was in need of a new filmmaker. Now Tate Taylor is stepping in.

Taylor, of course, directed Chastain in The Help and is now reuniting with her for the new movie, which has kept its plot largely a mystery, but will focus on a female assassin.

Newton originated the script and had been in line to direct, but left the project earlier this month when revelations about past abusive assaults and restraining orders surfaced.

Whether or not Taylor will re-write Newton's script remains to be seen, but he's certainly attached to direct. It's the second project he's developing with actor, but this one might have more forward momentum. Next up from the director is Blumhouse thriller Ma, which sees him working with another Help veteran, Octavia Spencer. That one has yet to set a release date.
