Ever since Quentin Tarantino announced his next film – which we now know is called Once Upon A Time In HollywoodMargot Robbie has been mentioned as someone he wants involved. According to Deadline, they've moved on to the formal offer stage, with Robbie now making a deal to play Sharon Tate.

Described as one of Tarantino's Pulp Fiction-style tapestry movies, Hollywood will be set in the 1960s with the Manson murders as a backdrop more than a focus. Leonardo DiCaprio is playing former Western TV series star Rick Dalton, looking to re-ignite his career with films, while Brad Pitt is his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth, who has similar ambitions. They're struggling to make it in a Hollywood neither man recognises anymore and Dalton happens to be neighbours with ill-fated actress Tate (Robbie, on the assumption she joins the film).

Tarantino will have the cameras rolling this year, and the film is pencilled in for a 2019 release slot. Robbie, who is coming off the back of an Oscar nomination for I, Tonya, has a few films in the works as both actor and producer (including one or two set in the DCEU), but will next show up in historical drama Mary, Queen Of Scots (out 14 September) and crime thriller Dreamland.
