The new issue of Empire comes overflowing with X-Men: Apocalypse goodness, with a mountain of exclusive content and on-set access to get your teeth into. On newsstands there’s nine character covers to pick from, but for subscribers things are heading in an altogether darker direction. Say hi to the bad guys below.

Adorning the subscribers’ cover are Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Archangel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and their new overlord, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). It’s a combination of malevolence, megalomania and superpowers that, [judging by the most recent trailer](http://www.empireonline.com/people/jennifer-lawrence/new-x-men-apocalypse-trailer-sees-oscar-isaac-unleashing-hell/

), could envelope the entire planet in flames and flying rubble.

Up against them are Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Havok (Lucas Till), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Jubilee (Lana Condor). They’re all led, as ever, by the righteous Professor Xavier (James McAvoy). For Raven (Jennifer Lawrence), things are as murky as ever.

X-Men: Apocalypse lands in UK cinemas on May 18. Don’t go near it without prepping with our handy Everything You Need To Know guide to Bryan Singer’s latest X-stalment.
